We are We are harnessing existing initiatives. China has emerged in the post-Covid era as the absolute winner on all fronts. The engine room of the world economic growth, China is also the planet’s factory. Joseph Nye once doubted the soft power abilities of China in that they could not come up with a Barry White, thus highlighting China’s inability to integrate foreign cultures and become a universal nation.

However, the Covid-19 pandemic has seen one Nation after the other adopt the Chinese model of zero covid through toxic and punitive lockdowns, arbitrary curfews, marking and tracing of human beings as you would do animals, mass control and electronic surveillance of the general population, assaults on civil liberties and fundamental freedoms. With its economic power and commercial ties in Africa, China is a powerhouse and a force to reckon with. We will take a critical look at the current landscape and identify gaps and areas of improvement.

Because several of the country’s largest industrial cities are fighting outbreaks, such measures are taking a
toll on the factory and transportation networks that are the backbone of China’s manufacturing — and the global economy. And the global economic harm already caused by China’s rise in cases — and the government’s tough response — could get worse.
