i) Youth in Politics Program  in 11 ECCAS countries funded by the US government

Defining and establish the Youth in Politics Program for ECCAS-

Background and objective: Young people on the world political scene are routinely marginalized, leading to deleterious effects on societies in the grip of conflict by curtailing the ability to offer credible alternatives to at-risk young people facing the call of armed groups and other contractors of war. The Central African Region is in a state of widespread insecurity with sporadic coup and unconstitutional assumption of power that epitomizes this situation. Yet young people are society’s most incredible assets, and Africa’s most fantastic fuel for integrated development and prosperity. The continent must therefore rely on, trust, and equip its youth for the future. Based on the above the YPP aims to:

j) Reinvigorate young people’s central and catalytic role in the stabilization and democratization of Africa through a commitment to political voting and activism;

k) Better understand/improve their lack of participation and train young activists to become political leaders;

l) Recognize youths as a cross-cutting strategic area of struggle for political empowerment.

m) Provide income generating activities that represent an alternative to criminal enterprise.
